Description: TEFL Paris is an independent centre providing a high quality Teacher Trainer course that is validated by IATQUO and surpasses recognized international standards. The intensive four-week course is held on a beautiful property, thirty-five minutes from the centre of Paris in Tournan en Brie. We offer Teacher Trainees comfortable and well-equipped onsite accommodation at extremely competitive rates. The peaceful environment provides ideal conditions for concentrated studying, while the inexhaustible delights of central Paris are only just over half an hour away. During the course, Trainees receive a minimum of one hundred hours of tutor contact from experienced Teacher Trainers with international teaching experience. Groups are kept small to enhance individual learning and generally include between 8 and 12 participants. Mornings are devoted to theoretical classes while afternoons are given over to practical sessions that include teaching practice and observation, material production and practical assignments. Courses Offered: Training Course Schedule The initial orientation is on the evening at 7.00-p.m the day prior to the course starting date. It is followed by a welcome dinner offered by TEFL Paris to all trainees. The first class will take place in the morning at 9:00 a.m. The course schedule for the week will be provided on arrival morning. Sessions generally run between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. with appropriate breaks. Teaching Practice is often in the late afternoons and evenings. Trainees are expected to attend all input and other sessions included on the schedule unless they are sick and require medical treatment. This is particularly important for Teaching Practice. § Resources Please bring a pen and a notebook for taking notes during class. All relevant forms and instructions will be provided, as well as notes from the input sessions. You may want to bring an mp3 player with you, especially one which records. If you have a laptop you may find it useful as the school is equipped with WIFI. Various books are provided for use by trainees. However, no books should be removed from the classroom without specific permission from the Course Academic Director. Inventory of all books will be conducted at the end of the course to ensure that no books have been accidentally removed. You will be required to prepare materials for your Teaching Practice. The school keeps an initial supply of basic tools necessary to make student materials. However, the trainees are responsible for providing additional poster board, markers, glue, pens, paper, etc., for creating teaching materials. These can be purchased at a local stationery store. Books to read § Trainee Course Feedback Sessions There will be two trainee feedback sessions. The first will be in the middle of week 2 and the second will be at the end of the course. These sessions are aimed to give trainees the opportunity to provide feedback regarding anything to do with the course, accommodations, and so on. We welcome your open and honest feedback so we can continue to improve the training course and the facilities provided at the training location. Even though there are two scheduled feedback sessions, please feel free to give feedback to the Course Director or the Academic Director at any time. Course Details: A Four Week Intensive Course We provide you with a 4-week intensive course, exceeding international standards, with 160 hours of classroom time, including 100 contact hours, and with 60 hours devoted to teaching practice (the most important part of any real TESOL/TEFL certificate course). The daily schedule is divided up into theoretical input classes and workshops in the mornings, and practical sessions in the afternoons, including lesson planning and materials production, observation of experienced teachers / teaching practice, peer observation and feedback sessions. International Accreditation The course is externally validated and moderated by IATQuO. The qualification is internationally accepted and well regarded by the international TEFL community. IATQuO assessors will evaluate and monitor the content and quality of our syllabus, teaching methodology and assessment procedures during regular visits. Students will receive a numbered certificate on successfully completing the course. TEFL (sometimes also referred to as TESOL), means Teaching English as a Foreign Language and a TEFL certificate is the major qualification required to teach English abroad. There is a huge demand for teachers around the world with opportunities in almost every country. Job Guidance We offer our students professional careers guidance both during the course and afterwards. We prepare you for your interviews and give you advice on how to present yourself to a French employer or a French company. All of our trainees who wanted to get employment in Paris, got several appointments for interviews during the last week of the course and got jobs within a week of the end of the course. Teaching practice. We consider this to be the central component of the TEFL course around which all other elements revolve. The other aspects of the course are designed to enable and support the learning process, which is generated by the teaching practice sessions. The 60 hours of the teaching practice component encompass: observation of experienced teachers, peer teaching, teaching French students, peer observation and trainer-led feedback sessions.
