Description: The school has about 500 students and 16 teachers. We operate a system of tandem teaching ? most groups are taught once a week by a native speaker teacher and once a week by a Polish English teacher. In our experience we find that the two types of teacher complement each other and the two teachers can rely on each other for help and support. It?s also useful for teachers to be able to compare their impressions of the students with each other. We currently employ 9 full-time native speaker teachers and 9 part-time Polish English teachers.

Course Details: There are 3 hours of input each day followed by supervised lesson planning, teaching practice (6 hours during the whole course) and feedback on teaching practice. Participants are also required to observe experienced teachers (6 hours during the whole course). Input involves demonstration and discussion of teaching techniques and principles, evaluation of materials and language analysis. Extensive use is made of group discussion and co-operative learning. Specific course content includes: ? learners and teachers in the teaching and learning context, language analysis and awareness, ? language skills: reading, listening, speaking and writing, ? planning and resources for different teaching contexts, developing teaching skills and professionalism. This course is intensive - participants are strongly advised to have no other commitments during the program. Assessment is mainly by continuous assessment of teaching practice.
