To apply for an entry visa to China, the applicant is required to lodge with this Consulate no less than the following:
A. Passport with at least one full blank page
B. Visa Application Form duly completed;
C. The full name of the applicant should be written in BLOCK letters
D. One recent passport size photo
E. Application fees
US passport holders
Those who hold the United States passports are required to lodge two completed Visa Application Forms and two recent passport size photos. For single entry visa applicants, the passport has to be valid for a minimum of 6 months in order for the application to be approved. Those wanting multiple long term visas for 6 months have to have a minimum of 9 months passport validity and those wanting for 12 months need to have a minimum of 15 months passport validity. To apply for a Tourist Entry Visa, the applicant is required to submit travel itinerary issued by a travel agency, air-ticket booking details or a letter of introduction issued on a company letterhead. Those who are to visit related people in China shall tender details of people they are going to visit including name, address and telephone number.
If you are going to be teaching in China, you will need to apply for a work entry visa. In addition to the requirements as specified above, you will need to submit an original Visa Notification Letter issued by authorized authority in China such as Foreign Affairs Office or Economy and Trade Committee at a municipal level or above. You should also provide an original "Work Permit" from the Labour Department concerned or a "Certificate of the State Bureau of Foreign Experts".
